TAG inspires, educates, and connects people through the appreciation of graffiti and street art, in all their many forms, bridging the divide between traditional art institutions and the street.
This is Who We Are
Currently under development in Trenton, NJ, The American Graffiti Museum (TAG) is dedicated to graffiti, street art, and the enduring human desire to make a mark.
Before galleries, before canvas, there were walls. People have always made art publicly - with or without permission. TAG will be the leading museum exploring how we use shared spaces to express identity, creativity, protest, and belonging. Building on the work of pioneering institutions in the US and abroad, TAG will expand the field by championing the artists, documenting the culture, and telling the full story across time, across cultures, and across every surface people have ever claimed as their own.
Located in the heart of Trenton’s burgeoning Creek to Canal Creative District, TAG will be a major cultural anchor institution driving tourism, sparking redevelopment, and supporting equitable, sustainable redevelopment in New Jersey’s capital city. While Trenton is positioned between New York and Philadelphia — two of the cities most closely associated with the birth of modern graffiti — TAG will reach far beyond the Northeast Corridor, connecting contemporary practices to global histories of public expression.
With more than 100k sf of exhibit, performance, education, studio, and community space, including a 12k sf outdoor courtyard with 25k sf of walls for rotating art installations,TAG is not only a museum about graffiti and street art. It is a museum about the art of being seen.
